Dur U Rin

Located in Daegu in southeastern Korea, Dur U Rin is dedicated to UV offset printing. Established in 2008, the full-service shop offers a diverse portfolio of print products, catering to nearly all types of commercial print jobs. The company’s focus is on high-quality, short-run production of business cards, flyers, brochures, catalogs, labels, folding cartons, and various packaging materials. In addition to paper and cardboard, Dur U Rin also prints on plastic substrates such as PE and PP.

For many years, Dur U Rin outsourced platemaking, with a monthly volume of between 2,500 and 3,000 plates. Over time, it became evident that this approach had considerable potential for cost and time savings. “The alternative was to stop outsourcing plate production entirely, allowing us to reduce costs significantly by utilizing our own prepress solution for in-house plate production. This would enable us to get to press faster and, if necessary, to remake plates more quickly,” said Jung Wang-Ki, founder and CEO of Dur U Rin.

Dur U Rin invested in a comprehensive solution from Kodak, including a service contract, consisting of a platesetter, workflow, and process-free plates.. Plates are output on a compact KODAK TRENDSETTER Q800 Platesetter with an Autoloader. The X speed model can image up to 41 plates per hour. By leveraging KODAK SQUARESPOT Imaging Technology, the TRENDSETTER Q800 delivers the exceptional precision, stability, and output quality that Dur U Rin demands. KODAK PRINERGY Connect Workflow efficiently manages the organization, processing, and output of job files to plates.

In addition, the printer opted for KODAK SONORA Process Free Plates, as they significantly simplify and streamline the platemaking process. The decision to use Kodak's process-free technology eliminated the need to purchase a plate processor and eased space constraints in the prepress department. Additionally, SONORA Plates offer sustainability and cost benefits, as they require no electricity, water, developer, replenisher, or gumming solution for processing and generate no associated waste.
