Kodak CTP and workflow technology have been instrumental in Printer Trento S.p.A.'s evolution into a leading manufacturer of high-quality books since its inception in 1980. Printer Trento has now purchased another high-performance platesetter from Kodak.
Based in Trento, Italy, the company serves renowned clients from the European publishing sector. With a commitment to "Passion and Precision for High-Quality Books," Printer Trento employs over 150 people and produces approximately 15 million books each year, spanning categories such as art, photography, education, and lifestyle. The majority of the printing volume is handled by four VLF sheetfed offset presses and a brand new 10-color perfecting B1 sheetfed press. A 6-color B1 sheetfed press completes the fleet of high-performance presses. Printer Trento successfully uses KODAK SONORA Process Free Plates on all of its presses.

Harnessing industry-leading 8-up CTP productivity
In an ever-evolving market where speed, quality, and flexibility are crucial, the book printer identified the need to expand its platemaking capabilities. Printer Trento opted for a KODAK MAGNUS Q800 Platesetter with T speed Plus and a Single Pallet Loader (SPL) that can hold up to 1,500 plates, specifically for imaging plates used on the B1 press. The new 8-up MAGNUS Platesetter, which can output up to 84 plates per hour, will join two existing KODAK MAGNUS VLF Platesetters. A common feature of all these CTP devices is the high-resolution KODAK SQUARESPOT Imaging Technology, which provides market leading imaging resolution, stability and output quality with its unique square and small spot size, dynamic autofocus and thermal compensation features.
A key pillar of production is the KODAK PRINERGY Workflow Platform, which the book manufacturer uses to manage and control its preprint operations. As a vital part of the workflow, the KODAK PRINERGY INSITE Prepress Portal facilitates customer file uploads and streamlines the proofing, correction, and approval cycles with publishers.
"Kodak's prepress technology, with its quality, productivity, and stable, reliable operation, has been a driver of our business success for decades. We also value Kodak’s ongoing enhancements and automation of its hardware and software solutions," commented Massimo Martinelli, Managing Director of Printer Trento. "After deciding to invest in a new 10-color perfecting press, we also needed to boost our platemaking capacity in the B1 segment. Therefore, it was a logical step for us to also choose Kodak for our CTP needs in the 8-up category. The MAGNUS Q800 will integrate seamlessly into our prepress environment, significantly boosting our plate imaging capacity."
