Celebrating Earth Day with Kodak: Our commitment to sustainability

As Earth Day approaches, we at Kodak are excited to share our ongoing efforts and achievements in sustainability. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is not just a goal; it is a core value that drives our innovation and operations. This year, we are proud to highlight the significant milestones we have achieved in our sustainability journey, as reported in our latest Kodak Sustainability Report.

At Kodak, we believe that sustainability is a continuous journey. Our strategy is built on three pillars: One People, One Planet, and One Business. These pillars represent our dedication to caring for our employees and customers, managing resources effectively, and reducing the environmental impact of our products and operations.

One People: We prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our employees. Our community impact initiatives, such as the United Way campaign and the Growing Employee Engagement at Kodak (GEEK) group, demonstrate our commitment to supporting the communities where we operate.

One Planet: We are dedicated to responsibly managing our environmental footprint. Our efforts include significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and water withdrawal, both ahead of our 2025 targets. We have also continued to offer innovative solutions like the KODAK SONORA Process Free Plates, which eliminate the need for processing chemicals and significantly lower water and electricity usage.

One Business: Our focus on sustainable innovation is evident in our products and technologies. The KODAK PROSPER Plus Imprinting Systems, powered by KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology, utilize eco-friendly, water-based EKTACOLOR Inks, minimizing the need for processing chemicals and reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These inkjet systems that can be added to analog presses and finishing equipment help printers reduce their environmental impact by extending the life of existing equipment, reducing waste and keeping potentially harmful substances out of the waste stream.

In 2023, we achieved a 56% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to our baseline year of 2016, and a 31% reduction in water withdrawal. These accomplishments reflect the dedication and hard work of our entire Kodak community. Our sustainability goals for 2025 include approaching zero waste at Kodak sites worldwide and achieving a 99% overall waste diversion from landfill and incineration.

Kodak's commitment to sustainable innovation is showcased through our advanced materials and chemicals segment. Our solvent recovery business at Eastman Business Park reprocesses spent solvents to achieve nearly virgin-quality products, conserving natural resources and improving profitability.

Our community impact initiatives are a testament to our commitment to sustainability. The Annual AMC Cookout, Winter Food Drive, and other events organized by the GEEK group highlight our efforts to support local communities and promote environmental stewardship.

As we approach the culmination of our current set of multi-year health, safety, and environmental goals in 2025, we are taking this opportunity to reflect on our achievements, learn from our experiences, and consider new initiatives that will define our sustainability efforts in the coming years. We are modernizing our sustainability program by investing in new software platforms that will enable more data-driven decision making, transparency, and efficiency.
