Episode 48: The Last Laugh with Ferne Pearlstein and Anne Etheridge
When director Ferne Pearlstein set out to make her documentary The Last Laugh, she had a unique and delicate task before her; she wanted to highlight the subject of when and if it's okay to laugh about traumatic events in society, like the Holocaust. She and her cinematographer Anne Etheridge handled the task with extreme care and respect and created a balanced film about how humans can use humor to deal with something that's not funny. In this episode, Ferne and Anne discuss the challenges and rewards of approaching this important subject.
