On Thursday, February 7, Mitchell Press accepted the plaque for the 2018 SONORA Plate Green Leaf Award for Canada at the company’s first Creative Industry Showcase. Mitchell Press hosted the event at their plant in Burnaby, B.C., Canada, to bring together leaders from Vancouver’s marketing, creative, and graphic design communities and give them an inside look of key industry print partners. Kodak representative Guy DuHamel attended the event and presented the award to Dan Castilloux, David Mitchell and Scott Gray from Mitchell Press.

This is the second year that Mitchell Press has won the SONORA Plate Green Leaf Award, demonstrating their excellence in sustainability. The company joins an elite group of printers from around the world in winning the award, named for KODAK SONORA Process Free Plates, which reduce the environmental impact of plate making.

Mitchell Press is a high speed, premium quality, commercial printer. In addition to using SONORA Plates, the company has a wide variety of sustainability programs and policies. Mitchell Press recycles paper, ink, cardboard, wood and plastics, and they have developed an on-site organics digester and garden for waste. They have advanced HVAC and IT systems that save energy, and they donate electronics and other materials to charities.

In addition, Mitchell Press recently published their first audited sustainability report, which can be found on the company website. They educate staff on best practices around sustainability, and they collect key data on projects to aid their clients’ efforts to track their environmental footprint, paper usage, distribution, and transport data.
