Two Communications Ports (COM2)

Problem/Symptom

|
Serial Camera does not connect.
|

Enter
the Device Manager.
-
Locate the two COM2 ports.

Highlight one COM2 port, select Action > Uninstall.

When the Confirm Device Removal window appears, click OK.
-
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the other COM2 port.
-
Click Start > Turn Off Computer.
-
When the Turn Off Computer window appears, click Restart.
-
When the computer restarts, it will install COM1 and COM2. Navigate
to the Device Manager to verify this.
-
Connect the Serial Camera.

|
COM2 ports are removed/refreshed
but reappear in Device Manager.
|
|
Each COM2 port has a unique IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest).
|
|
Two COM2 ports appear in Device Manager on
a new Hewlett-Packard computer with WINDOWS XP Home Edition preloaded.

Scanner and Camera Wizard Does Not Appear

|
When installing the USB camera using the WINDOWS
XP device drivers, the Scanner and Camera Wizard does not appear
after connecting the camera.

Make sure the camera
is plugged in.

Click Start > Search.

When the Search window appears, click "All files
and folders" (to the left of the window).
-
Under "All or part of the file name" (first
blank box), type the following:
scanner and camera
wizard. Click Search.

When the Scanner and Camera Wizard appears on the left,
double click the file that appears on the right.

A window will open asking you to select the program to
launch. Select "Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard Download pictures
from a camera or scanner." Click OK.

The Scanner and Camera Wizard screen should appear. Follow the
steps for transferring pictures according to the wizard.

USB 2.0 Controller Displayed in Device Manager
with an Exclamation Mark (!)

After installing WINDOWS XP, the USB 2.0 Controller
is displayed in the Device Manager with an exclamation mark (!).
When you check the status of this device, the following message appears:
!Universal
Serial Bus (USB) Controller. The drivers for this device are not
installed (code 28).
|
This occurs because WINDOWS XP does not
support the USB 2.0 specification. Contact your hardware manufacturer
to obtain a driver for the USB 2.0 Controller.

Local Area Connection 2 Icon in View Network

|
A Local Area Connection 2 icon appears in
the View Network Connections section of My Network Places. The following
information is displayed below the icon: Microsoft TV/Video Connection.
|
This behavior is by design. To work around
it, restart the computer. After you restart, the icon will not appear.
