How to Access and Download DCS Firmware and
Host Software

 Updated 20 November 2006  How to check the firmware version
To check the firmware version installed in your DCS Digital Camera
or DCS Pro Back:
-
Highlight the Menu icon.
-
Choose Main Menu.
-
Choose Firmware.
-
Choose Version. The firmware version appears.
-
Press OK.
 How to update firmware
-
Download the firmware to your computer
desktop.
-
Visit the DCS Firmware and Host Software download page.
-
Select your camera or camera back model from the drop-down
menu.
-
Read the support information located below the download
chart.
-
Select the download file for your computer's operating
system.
-
When the File Download screen appears, select Save.
-
When the Save As screen appears, save the file to your
computer's desktop.
Do not change the
file name.
-
When the Download Complete screen appears, select Close.
-
Verify that the firmware file appears on your computer's
desktop.
-
Copy the firmware to a memory card.
-
Insert a memory card into your computer's
card reader.
-
Copy the firmware file from your computer's desktop
to the memory card's root directory.
Important: You must place the firmware
file in the memory card's root directory! The file will
not work if it is placed in a folder.

Remove the memory card from your computer's card
reader.
-
Update the firmware in your camera or camera back.
-
Insert the memory card into your
camera or camera back.
-
Select the Menu icon, then choose Main Menu from the drop-down
menu.
-
Select Firmware.
-
When the Firmware screen appears, select Version or Update
from Card.
NOTE: If you select Version, the firmware version
number appears. If you select Update from Card, a second screen appears
stating the update will take about 15 seconds.

Select either OK or Cancel.
NOTE: If you select OK, the firmware update continues.
If you select Cancel, the firmware update cancels.
-
Power the camera off, then on again, to start the new firmware.

Repeat Steps D thru F.
 How to download host software

Visit the DCS Firmware and Host Software download page.
-
Make your selection from the drop-down menu.
-
Read the support information located below the download
chart.
-
Select the download file for your computer's operating
system.
-
When the File Download screen appears, select Save.
-
When the Save As screen appears, save the file to your
computer's desktop or to a location that is easy to access
and easy to remember.
Do not change the file name.
-
When the Download Complete screen appears, select Close.
-
Verify that the software file appears in the location where
you saved it.
