Some customers experience lead edge fold with EKTATHERM XTRALIFE Ribbons. Lead edge fold results in image artifacts. If you experience lead edge fold with your ribbon:

1. Try another ribbon, preferably with a different ribbon lot number, to see if the artifact disappears.

2. Some customers experience artifact problems with matte ribbon but not glossy ribbon. If you use matte ribbon, and have glossy available, try using glossy ribbon.

3. If you still experience lead edge fold, call Kodak. Have the model name and serial number of your printer available before you call.

Location of Ribbon Lot Number

8500 Printer:
The ribbon lot number is located at the right end of the supply spool (mounted in the printer).

8650, 8660, 8670 Printers:
The ribbon lot number is located on the inner portion of the bar code label. An example of a ribbon lot number is 5-005. The number varies in length depending on the printer model.

ML-500 Digital Photo Print System:
The label inside each of the ribbon supply spools has a top and a bottom number. The bottom number is the ribbon lot number. An example is 3 56 MATTE.
