 Average file size
What is the average size of an Image Pac file
written to a Kodak Digital Science Photo
CD Master Disc? For most 35 mm
images, the size is approximately 4.5 megabytes (MB). Depending
on the film type and the scene content, the size can range from
3 to 6 MB. The
Kodak Professional PCD Imaging
Workstation 4220 can reduce the quantization and produce 16 Base
files (up to 8 MB).
 Scanner resolution
What is the scanner resolution on a Photo CD Disc? For
16 Base scans, the
Kodak Professional PCD
Film Scanner 2000 or the
Kodak Professional PCD
Film Scanner 4045 digitizes 2048 x 3072 pixels over a 35 mm frame
of film (24 mm x 36 mm, or 0.94 x 1.42 inches). This produces a
scanning resolution of 2200 pixels per inch in both dimensions.
For 64 Base scans, the
Kodak Professional PCD
Film Scanner 4045 scans varying film formats at 4096 x 6144 pixels,
or approximately 4400 pixels per inch.
Do I have to get all possible resolutions on a
Photo CD Master Disc? Can I only get Base?
The Image Pac file written to a
Photo CD Master
Disc contains Base/16 through 16 Base. The Image Pac file
written to a
Photo CD Pro Master Disc contains
these five resolutions and the optional sixth resolution, 64 Base.
Because
Kodak Digital Science Photo CD Portfolio
II Discs are often intended to be viewed only on a television, they
may be written with just three levels of resolution: Base and below.
