Updated 10 March 2006
APPLE FIREWIRE (also referred to as IEEE 1394) provides high-speed
data transmission between a KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Digital Camera
and the host MACINTOSH Computer or WINDOWS OS-based computer. There are
two types of IEEE 1394 cables. One cable has both a 6-pin connector
and a 4-pin connector, and the other cable has 6-pin connectors
on each end.
Incorrectly connecting the IEEE 1394 cable to the IEEE 1394 port
on the camera or host computer will cause your camera's
IEEE 1394 communications circuit to fail. Follow these steps carefully
to avoid equipment damage, potential downtime, and a costly repair.
-
Move the host computer so you can clearly
see the IEEE 1394 port located on the back of the computer.
-
Align the IEEE 1394 cable connector to the host computer
port. On most computers, this will be a 6-pin configuration.
-
Connect the IEEE 1394 cable to the host computer port.
The cable connectors should slide easily into the port. If they
do not, recheck the alignment. DO NOT FORCE the IEEE 1394 cable
connector into the host computer port!
IMPORTANT: You must connect the cable to the host
computer
before you connect the cable to
the camera.
-
Align the IEEE 1394 cable connector to the camera port.
See the information below for pin configuration by camera model.
