KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro Back 645C
Contents
 Updated 21 November 2006
Note: This bulletin applies to the KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro
Back 645C
only. Situation
Failure to properly attach the DCS Pro Back 645C to the CONTAX
645 Medium Format Camera could damage the camera back and the camera
body. To prevent this from happening, a Latch Assembly Modification
is available from Kodak. There is
no charge to
install this modification.
If you experience either of the following situations, you need
the Latch Assembly Modification:
-
The latch assembly on the DCS Pro Back
645C does not properly attach the camera back to the camera body.
See the
Latch Assembly Verification Procedure.
-
The camera strap interferes with the latch assembly which
causes the release button on the DCS Pro Back 645C to activate.
If you use the camera strap, you need the Latch Assembly Modification.
This applies to earlier manufactured units
only.
Note: Newer manufactured DCS Pro Back 645C camera backs have
a stronger spring in the latch mechanism which eliminates accidental
release caused by the strap.

Latch Assembly Verification Procedure
| Step 1: |
Remove the DCS Pro Back 645C from the
camera body.
|
| Step 2: |
Push,
but do not rotate, the release
button and inspect the latch assembly for movement. Verify that
the latch assembly does not move. If the latch assembly moves, you
need the Latch Assembly Modification.
|
| Step 3: |
Slowly position the slots at the bottom of the DCS Pro
Back 645C in the locating hooks on the camera body.
|
| Step 4: |
Gently press the top of the DCS Pro Back 645C onto the
camera body. The latch assembly is properly engaged if you hear
two clicks. If you do not hear two clicks, try attaching it again.
If the latch assembly does not properly engage after several attempts,
you need the Latch Assembly Modification.
|
| Step 5: |
Verify the DCS Pro Back 645C is firmly attached to the
camera body. There should be no mechanical play in any direction.
