Situation

Kodak has discovered two situations regarding the Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply that could potentially cause equipment failure or downtime. To avoid inconveniencing our customers, we are replacing some or all of the battery charging equipment. There is no charge to the customer for this replacement.

Serial Numbers Affected

Situation #1

Kodak is exchanging the Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply provided with certain Kodak Professional DCS Pro Back 645M camera backs. The affected chargers and power supplies have connectors similar to the AC Adapter for the camera back. Inadvertently using the 8-volt AC Adapter (designed for the camera back) with the 12-volt Battery Charger Power Supply results in insufficiently charged batteries. Inadvertently using the 12-volt Battery Charger Power Supply with the camera back can damage the camera back's main board.

To prevent this situation, we are requesting that the Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply be returned. Kodak will replace them with a new charger and a new power supply which have a different connector to eliminate the possibility of misuse. There is no charge to the customer for this exchange.

Note: You do not need to exchange the AC Adapter.

Situation #2

The battery chargers in this serial number range have a higher than normal failure rate due to variations in the manufacturing process. If your battery charger fails, one or both of the bays will not charge the batteries which could result in a downtime situation. To avoid this, Kodak is replacing the battery charger. There is no charge to the customer for this exchange.

If the following designation is on the bottom of the battery charger, it does not need to be replaced.

• A red dot sticker.

• A green dot sticker.

• A silver label with the code 238 L or higher (for example, 239 L, 240 L, etc.).

The illustration below indicates a battery charger that does not need to be replaced.

If the above designations are not on the bottom of the battery charger, and the serial number falls within the range specified above, call Kodak. We will replace your charger base unit at no cost to you. Return the old unit to Kodak using a pre-paid mailer that we will provide.

US and Canada Customers

Call For Information

If you have a DCS Pro Back 645M or 645C with a serial number within the affected range, call the Kodak Digital Imaging Support Center at 800-235-6325 (a toll-free call) or 585-726-7260. Call Center hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. A Kodak representative will ask your name, address, and the serial number of your camera. Have this information ready before you place the call.

You will receive:

• A replacement Battery Charger.

• A replacement Battery Charger Power Supply.

• Return instructions.

• A pre-paid mailer to return the original Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply.

Return Instructions

When you receive the replacement Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply, keep the box! You will use the box to return the original charger and power supply. Return instructions will be included in the box.
For your convenience, the return instructions are provided below:

1. Complete the Return Form (provided by Kodak).

2. Place the original Battery Charger and Battery Charger Power Supply in the same box in which the replacements arrive. Do not return the AC Adapter for the camera back.

3. Seal the box, attach the pre-paid address form in a visible location, and mail.

Note: There is no charge to the customer for this exchange.
