KODAK WRATTEN Photographic Filters

This document was updated April 10, 2002.

  1. Where can I purchase KODAK Step Wedge Film or WRATTEN Filters?
You can order KODAK Step Tablets, KODAK WRATTEN Photographic Filters and other quality control and calibration devices through the TIFFEN Company LLC. The original Kodak catalog numbers have been retained and can be used when ordering TIFFEN products.

For access to the TIFFEN Company product catalog, go to this Web site: TIFFEN.com , or to this URL for the KODAK Professional Accessories catalog: http://www.tiffen.com/Kodak%20Professional%20Accessories%20catalog.pdf.

  2. If color negative films have wide exposure latitude, why bother with an 85 filter? Why not let the laboratory print out the difference?
You should always expose film as accurately as possible. This allows more tolerance for any other errors that may creep into the system. If, however the 85 filter is not used, the film is overexposed in the blue layer. This difference can be printed out, however if the film was processed in a negative process that was fast in the blue or slow in the green and red, or if the intermediates made from the negative were slightly blue, etc, the results might be too blue and unacceptable. For more information on filters, click the: TIFFEN Catalog Filter Web page and view the pdf copy of the KODAK PROFESSIONAL Accessories Catalog at the bottom of that Web page or go to URL: http://www.tiffen.com/Kodak%20Professional%20Accessories%20catalog.pdf
