    With the USB Picture Card Reader, you can transfer pictures from a Picture Card to your computer at very high speeds. Because the USB Picture Card Reader is similar to other removable media drives, you can also use it to erase unwanted pictures from a Picture Card.

  2. Where can I buy the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader?
    You can purchase the USB Picture Card Reader through dealers of KODAK Products as well as popular mail-order catalogs. In the United States, shop online at http://www.kodak.com/go/accessories. To find a dealer:

  3. What are the minimum system requirements for using the USB Picture Card Reader?
    The minimum requirements for WINDOWS systems:
    • Desktop PC with PENTIUM 200 MHz processor of higher
    • WINDOWS 95B OSR/2.1, WINDOWS 98, WINDOWS 98 SE, or WINDOWS ME, or WINDOWS 2000
    • Minimum 16 MB RAM for WINDOWS 95B OSR/2.1 and WINDOWS 98
    • Minimum 32 MB RAM for WINDOWS 2000
    • 1 MB hard disk space available
    • Available USB Port
    • CD-ROM Drive for software installation

    The minimum requirements for MACINTOSH systems:

    • MACINTOSH OS 8.6 or 9.0

  4. How do I install the software for the USB Picture Card Reader?
    You must install the KODAK USB Card Reader Software before you connect the Card Reader.

    To install the software on a WINDOWS system:

    1. Close all software applications, including those running in the background. See your computer User's Guide for instructions. Make sure the Card Reader is not connected to the computer.
    2. Place the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If Auto Insert Notification is selected on your computer, the Choose Setup Language window appears.
      If the installation does not start automatically, double-click the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader CD-ROM; then double-click Setup.exe.
    3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation process.
    4. Restart the system, if prompted.

    To install the software on a MACINTOSH system:

    1. Close all software applications, including those running in the background. See your computer User's Guide for instructions.
    2. Place the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. After a few moments, the Choose Setup Language window appears. Installation begins automatically.
    3. When the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader installer appears, click Continue.
    4. Restart the system, if prompted.


  5. I'm ready to connect the USB Picture Card Reader. What do I do?
    1. Make sure that the computer is on and the KODAK USB Picture Card Reader Software is installed.
    2. Connect the card reader cable to an open USB port on your computer or USB hub.
      Caution! Do not use force when connecting the card reader cable to the computer!
    3. Verify that the computer recognizes the card reader.
      To verify this on WINDOWS systems:
      The computer displays a message that the card reader is recognized. The card reader is assigned a new disk drive letter (such as E:, F:, or G:) within the My Computer icon on your desktop. Double-click the new drive letter to access pictures on the Picture Card.
      To verify this on MACINTOSH systems:
      Insert a Picture Card into the card reader. Double-click the icon to access the pictures.

    Note: To eject a card from the reader, drag the CF icon onto the Trash icon.

  6. I installed the Card Reader and my computer restarts automatically or just displays a blue screen. What should I do?
    This can happen with Dell Computers that have a Dell version of MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 Operating System. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem and listed it in their Knowledge Base article Q276409 "Hotfix from Q259545 causes "Stop 0x0000000A" in Disk.sys," available at: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q276/4/09.asp .

    Although the supported fix is available from Microsoft Corp, it is only intended to correct the problem as described here, and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. To resolve the problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services and obtain the fix by referring to the Q276409 article.
