- What should I know about using the projector?
- Avoid looking directly into the lens. The bright light may harm your eyes.
- Do not disassemble the projector. Disassembling the projector exposes you to the risk of electrical shock and voids the warranty. Refer all service to qualified service personnel.
- Avoid hot surfaces such as the lamp change door. To replace the lamp, if it is user-replaceable, turn the projector/lamp off and unplug the power cord. To avoid burns, wait at least 30 minutes before opening the lamp door. Follow all instructions provided in your User's Guide.
- Keep the projector vents clear. Avoid operating the projector on a tablecloth or other soft covering that may block the vents. These vents keep the projector from overheating.
- Do not set anything on top of the projector. Spilled liquids can cause serious damage to your projector.
- Do not place the projector on a hot surface or in direct sunlight.
- Do not drop the projector. Transport the projector is a case approved by Kodak. See the Kodak web site for information about projector accessories.
- What happens when I select Reset from the Adjust Menu?
The features in the Adjust Menu are reset when Reset is selected in this menu. There is no affect on any of the features in any other menu.
- What happens when I select Reset from the Setup Menu?
The features in the Setup Menu are reset when Reset is selected in this menu. There is no affect on any of the features in any other menu.
- Can I turn off the projector with the remote control?
No, the remote control turns off the lamp and places the V600/V600 Zoom in Standby. To completely turn off the projector the power cord must be disconnected. If the projector is to be mounted on the ceiling, an outlet that can be turned off is recommended.
- Can I connect live sources while the projector is running?
"Hot-swapping" is not recommended because some video cards do not provide ample protection from voltages that may be induced during connections. Kodak recommends that all connections are made and that the projector is turned on before any other peripherals.
- Can I connect multiple sources such as a Computer, S-Video, and a Composite Video to the projector and toggle between them?
Only one source is capable of being displayed at a time, but you can connect multiple sources and still be able to toggle freely between them by selecting one or the other from the Source feature in the Setup Menu.
- Is there a projector-to-computer extension cable available from Kodak?
Although Kodak does not make an extension cord for these projectors, there may be a suitable cable available. Depending on the length of cable you choose, an amplifier may be necessary. Please see our
Web site
of Kodak audiovisual products for assistance.
- What is AGC and when should it be used?
AGC stands for Automatic Gain Control and it minimizes the fluctuations caused by video signals that are too strong or too weak. Generally it is best to leave it on whenever you are using a video source.
- Can I mount the V600 projectors from the ceiling?
Yes, you can. The ceiling mount is available as an accessory.
- Can KODAK Digital Projectors display typical DOS screens with black backgrounds?
Kodak digital projectors are unable to display typical DOS screens, as there are no reference points for the optical system to recreate the image from. However, if the background color can be changed to a lighter color (blue or green suggested), or if the desired DOS screen can be displayed within a WINDOWS Operating System 'window,' Kodak digital projectors can usually project them.
- How long should I let the projector cool down before I put it in the case?
After the lamp has been properly turned off, leave the projector plugged into the AC outlet for about 5 minutes to allow for adequate cooling time.
NOTE:
The LED on the control panel will change from a fast flash to a slow flash (about a flash per second).
Then disconnect the power and properly store the projector.
- How should I transport my projector?
We recommend that you ship your projector in a hard-shell case if you are planning to check your projector with the rest of your luggage. The soft case is intended for storage in an overhead compartment, or for storage under an airline seat or for general storage only. Do not ship the projector in the soft-sided case. Shipping the projector in the soft-sided case will damage the projector. A hard-shell case is available as an accessory for most Kodak digital projectors..
- How should I clean the projector lens?
Follow these steps to clean the projector lens:- Apply a small amount of nonabrasive photographic lens cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to a soft, dry cloth or lens cleaning tissue. Do not apply the cleaner directly to the lens. Abrasive cleaners, other solvents or other chemicals may scratch the lens.
- Wipe the lens in a spiral motion. Begin in the center of the lens and finish at the outer edge of the lens.
- If necessary, repeat until the lens is clean and free of streaks.
- Replace the lens cap if the projector will not be used immediately.
- What does the remote control do?
The remote control lets you:- Access the Main Menu and make image adjustments/selections.
- Turn the projector to Standby.
- Turn the projector lamp on and off.
- Increase or decrease the volume.
- What is the maximum range of the remote control?
The maximum range of the remote control is 25 feet (7.6 meters). This means that if you point the remote at the projection screen, the distance to the screen and back to the projector must be less than or equal to 25 feet. Objects blocking the projector's IR sensor, overhead lights, projection screen characteristics and electrical interference can all adversely affect the operation of the remote control.
NOTE:
For best results, point the remote directly at the projector's IR sensor.
- Does the projector have a user-replaceable lamp?
Yes, the V600/V600 Zoom has a replacement lamp available as an accessory.
- How often should I change the projector's lamp?
For optimum performance, change the lamp between 2,000 and 4,000 hours of operation. To find out how long the lamp has been on, look in the Status Menu.
- How can I maximize lamp life?
To maximize lamp life:- If the projector will be idle for 15 minutes or less, leave the lamp on. If the projector will be idle for more than 15 minutes, turn the lamp off. This procedure will reduce stress on the lamp and will help to prolong its life.
- Once ignited, the lamp should remain on at least 5 minutes before turning it off.
- Wait for about 5 minutes after turning the lamp off before disconnecting the power to the projector. The LED on the control panel will change from a fast flash to a slow flash (about one flash per second).
- Wait at least 5 minutes after turning the lamp off before disconnecting the power to the projector.
- Avoid any rough handling of the projector while it's being transported.
For any problems, the first place to look for help is in your projector's User's Guide, or in the troubleshooting information listed here. Before calling your local dealer or emailing the Kodak Customer Support representative, please have the following information available:

|
- If using a laptop, use an AC power adaptor, not a battery.
- If the projector is ceiling mounted, and a non-Kodak extension cord has been used between the source and the projector, the extension cord may not have a distribution amplifier, or the distribution amplifier may not be suitable for the length of the extension cord. Work with the dealer for the proper set up.
- Determine whether any nonstandard peripherals have been added to the projection system (for example, cables, amplifiers, Y cables, splitters, etc.). Remove all nonstandard peripherals and set up projection with 'in-box' contents only to determine whether add-on(s) was the cause of the problem.
- Be certain the vertical refresh rate is 60-85 Hz (Status Menu). Reset the vertical refresh rate to 75 Hz, if possible (in computer's Properties); the computer may need rebooting and the projector may need resetting to recognize the change.
- Reseat all cables and check for broken pins.
- Try another signal source to determine if the problem persists.

Troubleshooting Lamps
| Problem
|
Resolution |
| No image. Fans ON, NO lamp
|
- The projector may have been shut off before completing cool- down cycle. Wait until fans stop (completion of cool-down cycle associated with last, incomplete, shutdown), then restart. Restart by depressing the Power button on keypad or remote (if V600 Zoom or if user purchased remote for V600 Fixed).
- Remove the lens cap on the projection lens at the front of the projector.
- The projector has a lamp ON/OFF button on the keypad, be certain it has been engaged. Depress the power button on the keypad or remote (if V600 Zoom or if user purchased remote for V600 Fixed).
- With the power disconnected, make sure the lamp module door is fully closed.
- If the lamp has recently been changed, and with the power off (projector unplugged), make sure the lamp module is fully seated in the projector.
- A previous user may have turned off the startup (splash) screen and display messages, and may have set the blank screen color to black. If Menus can be accessed, select Reset (Adjust and Setup Menus).
- If resetting (above) does not resolve the problem:
- Turn off the projector.
- Shut down the computer or other source and turn it off.
- Wait 5 minutes for cool down, if possible.
- Restart the projector. Initiate the power/lamp, if necessary, and wait one minute.
- Restart any peripherals, if applicable.
- Restart the computer or other source.
|
| Lamp seems to be getting dimmer. |
- Lamps begin to lose brightness after being in use for a long time (50-75% of expected life). When the condition becomes objectionable, replace the lamp.
|
| Lamp shuts down. |
- Make sure all of the projector cooling vents are clear and have ample space around them for proper cooling and air flow. If not, or if questionable (for example in an unapproved ceiling mount, in a bookcase, on papers or cloth, etc.), relocate the projector to an open tabletop to determine whether the problem persists.
- Make sure the air filter is clean. Refer to the User's Guide for cleaning instructions.
- Listen to determine if all fans are operational.
- Determine whether the environment is >85 degrees F. If so, or if questionable, relocate the projector to a cooler environment to determine whether the problem persists.
- Check the power source's circuit; are there power surges or brownout conditions?
- The lamp may be near end of life. Failure to stay lit is a symptom of imminent failure for some types of lamps. Replace the lamp.
|
| Uniformity has degraded since lamp replacement.
The new projector exhibits poor uniformity. |
- Allow the new lamp to burn in.
|
| How do I maximize the lamp life?
NOTE: The lamps take a couple of minutes to reach maximum brightness. |
- If you will have a blank screen for less than 15 minutes, use the 'Standby' function (refer to your specific digital projector User's Guide). If you will have a blank screen for more than 15 minutes, turn the lamp off.
- If the lamp was turned off, wait at least 5 minutes before turning the lamp back on.
- If the lamp was turned off, wait at least 5 minutes before pulling the power cord to leave the fans on, thereby cooling the lamp.
- Once ignited, the lamp should remain on at least 5 minutes before turning it off.

|
| The projector does not respond to the remote.
The projector responds poorly to remote; intermittent/'jerky' response.
The projector will not control the computer's mouse.
NOTE: For optimum results, point the remote directly at the IR receiver on the projector.
NOTE: V600 and V600 Zoom do not allow remote to be used as a mouse.
NOTE: Plain, or matte projection screens are recommended. |
- Make sure the total distance from the remote to the projector is no more than 25 feet (7.6 meters). Therefore, if you point the remote at the projection screen, the distance to the screen and back to the projector must be less than or equal to 25 feet.
- Make sure the protective film on the IR sensor on the projector has been removed.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the IR sensor on the projector. Even a cable running across part of the sensor is enough to cause a jerky or no response.
- Darken the room. Overhead lights can impair the response from the remote.
- Replace the remote control batteries. Change all the batteries at one time. Use only alkaline batteries.
- If the remote is inactive for several minutes, it will go into 'sleep' mode to conserve the batteries. Press any button on the remote, except the disc mouse, to reactivate the remote.
- If you are using a high-gain screen, be sure to point the remote directly at the projector.
- Shut down the projection system and restart using proper procedure:
- Select Reset (Adjust and Setup Menus)
- Turn off the projector.
- Shut down computer, or other source, and turn off.
- Wait 5 minutes for cool down, if possible.
- Be certain all cables are attached properly.
- Restart projector. Initiate power/lamp, if necessary, and wait one minute.
- Restart any peripherals, if applicable.
- Restart the computer or other source.
