Why download firmware version 1.03?

This firmware version provides the following improvements:

  • Visual quality of the LCD
  • Camera operation in temperatures above 95ºF (35ºC)

Prepare your Camera

CAUTION: Loss of power during the firmware upgrade can render your camera inoperable.

  1. Connect the optional KODAK AC Adapter, or install a new or fully charged battery in the camera.
  2. If you have pictures on the internal memory of your camera or on a memory card, save the pictures to your computer.
Download and Extract the Firmware File
  1. Download the file to your computer.
  2. Double-click the file to start the WinZip Self-Extractor.
  3. Select Unzip to folder, and specify a location, or leave the default location.
  4. Click Unzip. The firmware file unzips to the specified folder.
  5. Note the location of the folder. The file has a .pak file extension.
  6. Close the WinZip Self-Extractor.
Select a Method
  • If you do not have a memory card and card reader, use Method 1.
  • If you have a memory card and a card reader, use Method 1 or Method 2.
Method 1
  1. Visit the EASYSHARE Software Web page at www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw, and download the latest version of software.

    NOTE: EASYSHARE Software version 6.x or later must be used during this procedure.

  2. Remove the memory card from the camera.
  3. Turn on the camera.
  4. Format the internal memory of the camera:
    1. Press the menu button.
    2. Select Setup.
    3. Select Format.
    4. Select Internal Memory.
    5. Press OK.
    6. Press OK to continue.
  5. Connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable.

    NOTE: The first time you connect your camera to your computer, Sync and Transfer Setup or Sync and Transfer Assistant prompts appear on the screen. Follow the prompts to set up the camera as a device in the software.

  6. Start EASYSHARE Software.
  7. Select Tools > Sync and Transfer Manager.
  8. Select your device from the list in the left column, and then select the Info tab.
  9. Click Update Firmware, and go to the location where you downloaded the firmware file.
  10. Click Open to copy the file from your computer to the internal memory on the camera.
  11. Turn off the camera, and then disconnect the USB cable from the camera.
  12. Turn on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes. When it is complete, the camera will delete the firmware file from internal memory.
  13. Turn off the camera, and then turn it back on again.
Method 2
  1. Remove the files from the memory card.
  2. Place the memory card in the card reader.
  3. Open the drive corresponding to the memory card to view the card contents.
  4. Check that a System folder exists on the memory card. If not, create one.
  5. Locate the firmware file on your computer and copy it into the System folder on the memory card.
  6. Remove the memory card from the card reader, and insert the memory card into the camera.
  7. Turn off the camera.
  8. Turn on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes.
  9. Turn off the camera, and then on the camera.
