Shooting Distant and Close-Up Pictures

Use the button to take pictures of scenes that are either very far away or very close.

Distant Pictures

Use the Distant setting to gain maximum sharpness of far away scenes. With this setting, the camera uses a fixed, infinite focus.

Close-Up Pictures

Use the Close-Up setting to gain sharpness and detail in pictures at close range. When selected, the camera automatically sets the focus distance at 0.7 to 2.3 ft. (0.2 to 0.7 m). It is not recommended to adjust the diopter dial when Close-Up is selected.

To choose the setting:

  1. Select a capture mode on the Mode Dial.

  2. Press the button repeatedly until the appropriate icon appears in the Status Display.

  3. Press the Shutter button half-way to lock the focus and exposure.

  4. Press the shutter button all the way down to take the picture.
