KODAK CAMEO SFM/Motor EX Camera
Taking Flash Pictures

In dim light, such as indoors or outdoors in heavy shade or on dark overcast days, you need flash. This camera features automatic flash that fires when you need it.

  1. If the camera fails to take a picture when you depress the shutter button, the flash is not charged. Wait for the flash-charging symbol on the LCD panel to go off before taking a picture.

  2. Keep the subject within the distance range for the speed of the film in your camera.

    ISO Film Speed Flash-to-Subject Distance
    100 4 -13 ft (1.2 - 4.0 m)
    200 4 - 18 ft (1.2 - 5.0 m)
    300 4 - 25 ft (1.2 - 7.6 m)

Note: To conserve your batteries, close the lens cover/flash when you are not using the camera.

Using the Fill Flash

Bright light can create intense shadows on your subject. By using fill flash, you can lighten these shadows.

  1. Press the Mode-Selector Button once to the fill-flash position. Make sure the fill-flash indicator  appears on the LCD Panel.

  2. After you compose the picture, gently press the shutter button. If the camera fails to on the LCD panel to go off before taking a picture.
  3. To cancel fill flash, close the lens cover/flash or press the mode-selection button three times to the return to normal mode.

Flash Tips

In color pictures taken with flash, people's eyes sometimes appear red. Your new camera is designed to minimize this effect, but to further reduce the possibility of this occurring, turn on room lights and have the subject face the lights.

Stand at an angle to shiny surfaces like windows or mirrors, so light from the flash does not reflect from the shiny surfaces and produce a bright spot in your photograph.
