KODAK CAMEO SFM/Motor EX Camera Taking a Picture
Note: Film with an ISO less than 100 or non-DX/DXN coded film will not operate in this camera.
Before taking any important pictures, take some test pictures and have the film processed. This will allow you to check the camera and your operation of it.
- Lift the Lens Cover/Flash by pushing up on the bottom of the camera to completely
uncover the Lens and Viewfinder and to turn on the camera.

- Frame your subject in the Viewfinder Eyepiece. Everything that is framed by the
viewfinder you should get in your pictures. For a sharp picture, stand at least 4 ft (1.2 m)
from your subject.
- Hold the camera steady and gently press the shutter button to take the picture. The flash
automatically fires if the light level is too low. After you take a picture, the film
automatically advances to the next picture frame.
- You can check the LCD panel at any time to see how many pictures are remaining by
opening the lens cover/flash or by pressing the shutter button with the lens cover/flash
closed.
You can include yourself in the picture by selecting the self-timer mode.
- Use the Tripod Socket to attach the camera to a tripod or place the camera on another
firm support.
- Press the Mode-Selection Button twice to the self-timer position. Make sure the self-timer indicator
appears on the LCD Panel.

- After you compose the picture, gently press the shutter button. You have
approximately 10 seconds before the picture is taken. The Self-Timer Lamp blinks for
ten seconds and will blink faster two seconds before the picture is taken.
- The camera automatically returns to normal mode after you take a picture. If you close
the lens cover/flash while the self-timer lamp is blinking, the camera will cancel the
self-timer and return to normal mode.
- Keep your pictures simple. Move close enough to your subject so it fills the viewfinder
(but not closer than 4 ft [1.2 m]).
- Take pictures at the subject's level. Kneel down to take picture of children and pets.
- Hold your camera vertically to capture tall, narrow subjects, such as a waterfall,
skyscraper, or single person.
- Add interest to your picture by framing it with a tree branch, a window, or even the
rails of a fence.
- Be careful not to get the wrist strap, fingers, or any other objects in front of the lens or
flash.
