Troubleshooting

What happened Probable Cause Solution
Pictures too dark Not enough light to take pictures Use flash.
Flash not ready Wait for flash-ready light.
Incorrect film-speed setting Use correct setting.
Subject too far the camera for flash pictures See flash-range recommendations.
Pictures too light Incorrect film-speed setting Use correct setting.
Subject too close to camera for flash pictures See flash-range recommendations.
Camera pointed directly at bright light Don't point camera directly at the sun or other bright light.
Subject partially or fully obstructed Object blocking lens Keep hands, strap, or other objects away from the lens and flash.
Camera will not operate Lens cover/flash closed Open lens cover/flash.
Film not advanced Fully wind film-advance wheel.
Film needs to be rewound/ removed See "Unloading the Film".
Foggy or blotchy pictures Dirty or smudged lens Clean the lens; see "Caring for Your Camera".
Blank roll of film Film never advanced during camera loading Load film properly; see "Loading the Film".
Flash-ready light fails to glow within 30 seconds Flash not turned on Turn on the flash.
Batteries weak or dead Replace with 2 fresh alkaline batteries.
Batteries improperly loaded in camera Load batteries as shown on the tab in the battery compartment.
Excessive force required to rewind Did not press the rewind button until it locked in place Fully press the rewind button until it locks into place and be sure it remains down during rewind.
