Mode Button

Press the mode button when you want to select or deselect red-eye reduction or to select portrait mode with or without red-eye reduction.

Some people’s eyes (and some pet’s) can reflect flash with a red glow. To minimize red eyes in flash pictures, use the red-eyereduction feature and have your subject look directly at the red-eye-reduction bulb until the flash goes off.

  1. Press the on/off button to uncover the lens and to turn on the camera.

  2. Repeatedly press the mode button until the red-eye reduction indicator or no red-eye reduction indicator appears on the LCD panel.

  3. Look through the viewfinder eyepiece and compose your picture.

  4. Hold the camera steady and gently press the shutter button completely down to take a picture.

Portrait mode  icon
The portrait selection allows you to take sharp, close-up pictures of people. In this mode, the camera automatically zooms to provide suitable framing for portraits. This feature is available with or without red-eye reduction.

  1. Press the on/off button to uncover the lens and to turn on the camera.

  2. Repeatedly press the mode button until the portrait symbol with the red-eye reduction indicator or just the portrait symbol appears on the LCD panel.

  3. Look through the viewfinder eyepiece and compose your picture within the close-framing guides of the viewfinder.

  4. Hold the camera steady and gently press the shutter button halfway down until the zoom lens adjusts for suitable framing and completely down to take a picture.

    All flash options are available in the portrait mode.

    The portrait mode with or without redeye reduction cancels after you take the picture.
