How to Make It
|
- Paint the outside of your clay pot with acrylic paint. Let dry. (See Tip #1.)
- Cut out figures from your photographs. The number of figures - and photographs - you need to create a ring around your pot depends on the size of the pot and the size of the figures in the photographs. (See Tip #2.)
- Use decoupage medium on a foam brush to glue your figures to the pot. Be sure to paint over the figures with the decoupage medium as well. Let dry.
- Add some stickers to the pot.
- Tape over the hole in the bottom on the inside of the pot with masking tape, place the pot upside down over a plastic bottle over newspapers, and brush the resin coating evenly over the pot. Let any excess resin drip onto the newspapers. Remove any bubbles in the resin coating and let dry in a dust-free area.
- Remove the masking tape and brush the inside of the pot with the resin coating. Cover the pot completely with the resin to seal it. Remove any bubbles in the resin coating. Let dry for three days.
- Cut out some flowers from colored construction paper. Trace a circle around a face on a photograph and cut out the circle to place in the center of the flower. (See Tip #3.)
- Place a floral stem wire on the construction paper and use a glue stick to attach the wire, paper flower, and photo center.

Tips
- Get creative: Use different colors of acrylic paint. Paint one color on the rim and another on the rest of the pot. Or make splotches of pastel colors over the pot.
- Make it your own: Instead of using the same picture of a child to make the ring around the pot, use one picture of each member of your family. Or choose a picture of a pet or a flower to repeat around the pot.
- Don't limit yourself: Cut the paper and photograph that goes in it into any flower shape - into tulips or daffodils.
