Spring Frame Layout Make It logo

Skill Level: starsstarsstarsstars Expert

Summer is almost here and spring is bloomin'. Take your favorite springtime photograph and create some inspirational layouts.
What You'll Need
  • A seasonal picture
  • 12" x 12" cardstock
  • Making Memories Paper 12" x 12" Butternut Watercolor in Solid Light
  • Making Memories Paper 12" x 12" Butternut Watercolor in Dreamy Dots Light pattern
  • Yellow cardstock
  • Plain vellum
  • Yellow twistel fiber; Making Memories
  • Daffodil stickers; Jolee's Boutique
  • Zig Writer pen in Evergreen
  • Gold mini brads
  • 3-inch Square Punch
  • Pop Dots and Mini Glue Dots
  • Hermafix double-sided adhesive squares
How to Make it
  1. Pick a spring picture
Make a 5" x 7" enlargement of your favorite springtime picture.

  2. Create your "windows"
Use a 3" square punch to make the "windows" holding the daffodil stickers on the left side of the 12" x 12" green cardstock. The windows are rectangles, so you'll have to punch out one square, then shift your punch straight down about 1/2" and punch it again. Next, cut a 4" x 12" strip of the Dreamy Dots Light paper and adhere it behind the windows, using Pop Dots to create depth.

  3. Plant your daffodils in the windows
Place the daffodil stickers inside each of the windows, adhering them to the Dreamy Dots Light paper. Then unroll strips of the yellow twistel fiber and adhere it with mini glue dots to frame the windows. Attach gold mini brads to the four corners of the frame.

  4. Mat your enlargement
Mat the 5" x 7" picture on vellum, and then again on the Dreamy Dots Light paper. For the rolled-edge effect, mat the picture a third time on the Butternut Solid Light paper, but leave the white side up and the colored side down. Now tear the edges of the paper and roll it upwards towards the photo so that the yellow side shows slightly. (It may help to wet the edges just slightly before rolling.) Finally, unroll strips of the yellow twistel fiber to frame the picture and adhere them to the matted picture with gold mini brads on each corner. Then adhere it to the green background paper.

  5. Journal your page
Journal with the evergreen pen on plain vellum. Attach a few daffodil stickers to the left side of the journaling block. Trim and mat it on the Dreamy Dots Light paper. Tear the edges of this paper, then mat it again on vellum. Attach your journaling block to the green background paper under the photo.
