Print Output Technologies and Devices for Retailers and Photofinishers

Image printing technologies have different advantages and related costs, so the output options your business uses to create customer products will depend on applications, quality, volume, and size requirements.

Kodak either partners with or manufactures equipment in all the major areas of print output technologies.

Traditional photographic printers (silver-halide or AgX)

Using the traditional photographic printing process is great for the rapid output of high-quality, high-volume, digital and optical prints. Although this solution requires an additional 'wet chemistry' processor, which can be a standalone device or integrated with a minilab, print media costs are relatively low.

Kodak manufactures a wide range of paper/media, and processing chemicals for use with these devices.

KODAK Thermal Printers (dye diffusion)

This digital output technology is the leading imaging technology that is built into picture kiosks and 'dry labs.' It is also available in standalone desktop units, such as KODAK PROFESSIONAL Photo Printers.

Kodak's thermal output has a totally dry process (no chemicals), offers outstanding photo quality, and includes in-printer lamination.

KODAK Inkjet Printers

Inkjet offers the advantages of a 'dry process,' a wide range of sizes, and relatively low capital investment. Kodak offers a range of inkjet printing equipment and media designed for retail, consumers, and professional applications. Some offer double-sided printing options.
