EKTACOLOR EDGE - Questions and Answers

What are the advantages of using KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper?
KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper will give your customers long-lasting prints with bold, bright colors. The paper provides excellent results from digital files, as well as from Kodak's and other manufacturers' films—either optically exposed or from scanned image files.
How does KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper handle digital images or files?
The characteristics of a digital printer need to be incorporated into the design of the paper to accommodate its different (compared with optical) dynamic range of exposure.
What is the difference between KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper and KODAK ROYAL Digital Paper?
EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper is approximately 8-mils thick, has a light gray backprint, and is offered in F (glossy) and E (fine lustre) surfaces.

ROYAL Digital Paper is approximately 10-mils thick, features a distinctive gold backprint, and is offered in F (glossy) and N (matte) surfaces. This gives it a premium, stiffer feel.

Both EDGE and ROYAL Papers are similar in the way they respond to light during exposure (spectral response) and in color reproduction.

If your retail/photofinishing business wants to differentiate itself by offering a superior quality service – KODAK ROYAL Digital Paper can help you in this regard.
What are the business benefits of using KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper in my lab compared with KODAK ROYAL Digital Paper?
EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper is an excellent quality consumer paper, incorporating the same emulsion technology as ROYAL DIGITAL Paper. Its thinner base, and hence lower cost, makes it suitable in some mass production workflow environments. It is also available in certain larger sizes that fit some specific printer applications. Furthermore, EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper comes in longer rolls for high-volume printers.
Are there any differences in printing and processing KODAK ROYAL Digital Paper compared with KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper?
No. Both papers can be used with digital and optical minilabs, high-speed printers. Both papers use KODAK EKTACOLOR Chemicals Process RA-4 for large processors, and single-part KODAK EKTACOLOR PRIME LORR, or KODAK EKTACOLOR SM Chemicals for Process RA-2SM. For NORITSU, FUJI FRONTIER, and PHOTO-ME DKS Digital and Optical Minilabs, use KODAK EKTACOLOR Processing Cartridge 111 Chemicals.
