35 mm Film Containers Recycling
Retail photofinishers and consumers wanting to recycle film containers should check with their local recycling programs about recycling these materials.
The black film canisters are constructed of virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic (SPI Code2), a tough, semi-rigid material commonly used for kitchen utensils, tools, toys, and numerous other applications. The gray lids are made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), also a commonly used plastic (SPI Code 4).
