About the Daylight Saving Time and Time Zones Update
Purpose
This update addresses changes in the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time and the addition of time zones in KODAK Products running on MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 and WINDOWS XP.
This will be a problem for any KODAK device running WINDOWS 2000 and WINDOWS XP based PCs that rely on its clock to either turn on/off or if it performs a time based function/activity.
United States Beginning in the spring of 2007, the start dates and end dates for daylight saving time (DST) will change to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates for 2007 in the United States and Canada will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March), and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November).
Canada All provinces in Canada that use daylight saving time have adopted the same changes as the United States.
Mexico Mexico has not adopted the DST changes that were made in the United States. Therefore, separate time zone definitions must be used for Mexico.
Uruquay A new time zone has been created for Montevideo, Uruquay.
Brazil There are different DST dates in Brazil.
Israel There are different DST dates in Israel.
Egypt There are different DST dates in Egypt.
Sri Lanka The local time offset has changed from UTC+6.00 to UTC+5:30.
Australia There are different DST dates in Australia.

About Update 922 Noritsu QSS 3011/3010 with KODAK DLS Software 1.2 LP or 2.1 LP
Purpose
Software Update 922 replaces Software Update 905. It is not necessary to un-install Software Update 905 if it is already installed. Installing Software Update 905 after installing Update 922 will cause the color management system to use Update 905’s files instead of Update 922’s files. To correct for this condition, un-install both Update 905 and Update 922 in the reverse order in which they were installed and then install Update 922.
This update contains changes to the color management for the NORITSU QSS 2911/2921 DLS Digital Minilabs and the NORITSU QSS-3011/3010 DLS Digital Minilab offering improved color reproduction and updates to the calibration application providing improved robustness when using KODAK EKTACOLOR EDGE Paper and KODAK ROYAL Digital Color Paper.

About Update 420 for KODAK DLS System Management Software 2.1 LP
Purpose
This update:
Purges abandoned network orders older than 7 days each time the DLS System Software starts up to keep the size of the database from growing because of abandoned network orders.
Modifies the DLS start up so that the WIP (V:), PrintBuf (Y:), and KIAS (Z:) drives are formatted during the startup. These drives will only be formatted once each day so that subsequent restarts of MICROSOFT WINDOWS during the same day will not add additional time for the DLS System Software to start. This identifies and blocks out any hard drive sectors that have become damaged from hard drive usage. Since the NORITSU QSS 3011 and 3010 Minilabs are designed to automatically start up in Timer Mode, operators may want to modify the current start-up time to allow for this change. Depending on the number of partial and fully received network orders, it will add 15 minutes or more to the first DLS start-up time of the morning.
Adds a shortcut item to the MICROSOFT WINDOWS menu that allows a service technician to run the special DLS Hard Drive Maintenance script if it is necessary to re-format the drives during the day. Close the DLS Software and Catalina/TOMCAT applications to the WINDOWS Desktop before running this hard drive maintenance script. Use the following path to run this script:
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools (Common) > DLS System Management Software > Hard Drive Maintenance

About KODAK DLS Software Update 408b
Software Update 408b can be installed only on NORITSU QSS-3010 or 3011 Minilabs loaded with KODAK DLS System Management Software 1.2 LP (DLS Software).
If the earlier release of Software Update 408 was installed, the operator will be given a message to remove it before being able to install Update 408b.
Software Update 408b requires that Update 404 and 406 already be installed. Software
Update 408b requires a minimum of 5 MB free space on both the C: and X: drives.
Purpose
This update:
Increases the ability of the KODAK Image Access Software to successfully receive network orders sent over a network that exceeds 60% available bandwidth.
Increases the time the DLS permits a network order to be kept alive. The DLS Software must receive a minimum of eight packets of data within 60 seconds, otherwise the partially received order will be considered abandoned by the KODAK Image Access Software Protocol. Before this Update, the timeout threshold was set at 20 seconds.
Improves management of the network order database by purging partial ly received order entries that have been abandoned for more than 7 days. This keeps the database size from growing due to abandoned network orders.
All partially received DLS network orders will be deleted during the installation of this Update. This will free up hard drive space by removing all abandoned or partially received network orders. Network orders that have been fully received, but not yet processed, will not be removed. After the install, abandoned network orders older than 2 days will be deleted each time the DLS Software starts running.
New in Software Update 408b: Corrected a WINDOWS Operating System shutdown problem that required the operator to select the End Now buttons before the minilab could shutdown and enter Timer Mode.

About Update 406
IMPORTANT: After installing any Software Update, remember to use the KODAK DLS Backup & Restore Software to create a new backup. It's important to be aware that restoring registry data or files into the "C:\Program Files\Kodak\Minilab" folders from backups made before installing a DLS Software update may cause unpredictable reliability.
[wg38_1_subtitle_4]
Requirements
Software Update 406 can be installed only on NORITSU QSS-3010 or 3011 Minilabs loaded with KODAK DLS System Management Software 1.2 LP (DLS Software).
Software Update 406 requires that Update 404 already be installed. Software Updates must be installed in a sequential order, but not all Updates are required. Software Update 405, was only required for Spanish versions of DLS. If you want to install an earlier Software Updated than you have already installed, you will need to un-install each higher numbered Update in their reverse order. Then after installing the earlier Update, re-install all of the newer Updates you want in their increasing numbered order.
[wg38_1_subtitle_7]
Purpose
This update:
Installs an update to reduce image rendering errors.
Installs a software Hot Fix to Microsoft Windows that improves the reliability of the hard drives used in the Noritsu Minilab. (Hot Fix #Q263939)
Sets the MICROSOFT WINDOWS Event Logs to automatically delete old events as needed to accept new ones. In the past, the event logs would fill up and not capture the most recent events.

About DLS Software Update 404
[wg40_1_subtitle_3]
Purpose
This update:
Improves the reliability of the KODAK Image Access Standard interface, used to accept kiosk and network orders, when a significant number of orders are simultaneously submitted through the KODAK Image Access Standard interface.
Enables a manual release of network and kiosk orders submitted through the KODAK Image Access Standard interface. Orders submitted through the KODAK Image Access Standard will be displayed on the WIP screen prior to using WIP space. They will become active orders when selected and enabled by the operator. This is enabled when the Archive Retrieval for Preview & Select is set to Delay.
Includes an adjustment to the print density for KODAK Black & White Film (C-41 Process) (product and generation code 78-13) and KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA 400BW Film (C-41 Process) (product and generation code 79-15) that improves the overall yield of high quality images that do not require further operator adjustment for print density.
While this adjustment should make a significant improvement in the automatic balance, some outdoor images with significant amounts of bright clouds and or snow may require approximately 1 button of additional lightening (minus density).
Additionally, images taken by advanced amateurs or professionals, where the scene lighting was controlled for a specific "look" or mood may get a more traditional optical-like black-and-white rendition if the Contrast Normalization check box is selected on the Key Operator's Image Defaults screen. If you change the contrast normalization setting, you must restart the DLS Software before the change takes effect. For the vast majority of typical amateur film, the Tone Scale Settings default gives better shadow and highlight detail and is the best choice for normal operation.
Enables the digital card reader to read 256MB LEXAR MEDIA SECURE DIGITAL Cards.
Improves reliability by fixing an issue that occurs when correcting underexposed images.
Enables Red-Eye Correction on network and kiosk orders submitted through the KODAK Image Access Standard interface. This is only enabled when Automatic Red Eye Removal is enabled in Key Operator mode.
Removes the four MICROSOFT Games installed with the operating system. These games are: Freecell, Minesweeper, Pinball, and Solitaire.
