KODAK Special Surveillance Film SO-499 Has Been Improved!
In addition to the January KODAK News announcing improved grain and sharpness for KODAK WL Surveillance
Film / 2210, Kodak is also pleased to announce that KODAK Special Surveillance Film SO-499 has also been
improved! In addition to being the world’s finest-grained, 400-speed, B&W film, 2210 / SO-499 are also the
world’s sharpest, offering photographers a level of clarity normally available only from a 100-speed film.

Catalog.
Availability
Beginning December 2007, new SO-499 Special Surveillance Film will be replacing the current SO-499 Special
Surveillance Film
Film Usage
No changes are necessary in how you expose or process this film. The new surveillance film formulation has
been rebalanced to maintain the same exposure and processing parameters you have been using with the
current film.
Film Appearance
The new surveillance film has a different look. The backside of the film is darker, and more blue / black when
viewed prior to processing. The reason for the color change is the addition of an incorporated UV barrier that
prevents inadvertent backside static exposure, thereby improving its sharpness.
This film may appear to have more haziness when wet but the haze will disappear as the film dries.
