        Mobile Communications

Imaging technologies are increasingly common in mobile devices; mobile phones, wireless-enabled still cameras, PDAs, wireless enabled photo frames, and e-mail are just a few examples. Even within the home, mobile multimedia systems are becoming pervasive as WANs become commonplace. The growth of wireless and mobile communications places new requirements on the design of imaging devices and systems.

Kodak Research is working on various aspects of mobile imaging, including sound and video. Interface techniques need to be optimized for small displays with reduced input/output capability, as well as networks of devices, which automatically configure into a network, locate useful services and adapt the application interface to match the accessible functionality.

Understanding mobile networking technologies allows Kodak to build a better user experience using the specific characteristics of the device and the network. In this way, applications dynamically adapt to changes in networks, services and devices while ensuring a secure and engaging user experience.
