    Kodak Advances Information Capture at GITEX Technology Week with New OCR Module for Arabic Language Documents

    DUBAI, October 12 -- 

    Kodak’s Document Imaging division continues to strengthen its capture software portfolio to meet the growing needs of its customers around the world.

    During GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, Kodak will unveil the newest version of its award-winning software platform, KODAK Capture Pro Software, v4.1, which adds optical character recognition (OCR) for Arabic as a separate module. Available for purchase in late 2012, the module will enableusers with Arabic language documents to apply zonal OCR to separate batches ofdocuments andautomate the indexing process; apply drag and drop OCR for faster, more accurate results; and output searchable PDF files. Demonstrations of the new Arabic OCR module with Capture Pro Software, v4.1 will be shown in Kodak’s stand (B4-15) at GITEX Technology Week, Oct. 14-18.

    “Kodak’s software advances traditional workflows in ways that enable businesses to move collaboration closer to the point of capture and gain efficiencies,” said Martin Birch, Kodak’s Regional Directorof Document Imaging, Europe, Africa and Middle East Region (EAMER). “Automated recognition (OCR) helps to accelerate the conversion of paper documents and other resources into valuable input for use across information management platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint.”

    Businesses and organizations use Capture Pro Software’s powerful capabilities to optimize a variety of workflows such as accounts receivable departments in small and medium size enterprises, claims processing for insurance firms, and back-file conversion at service bureaus. Users can populate index fields faster and more accurately with expanded Database Lookup, which enables data lookup on one or two key index fields. Capture Pro Software also strengthens the integrity of these operations with Double Data Entry indexing and an Intelligent Quality Control (QC) capability that automatically identifies images with challenging noise characteristics that may require additional image adjustments, including auto-crop and deskew.

    Capture Pro Software’s expanded connectivity and outputenable the application to work within a wide range of capture environments from departmental to production batch- and transactional-level workflows and interfaces. Its output capabilities include password-encrypted PDFs, support for documents more than 200 inches long, and easier document previewing with a Fast Web View setting. Capture Pro Software runs seamlessly with KODAK Scanners as well as document scanners from third-party vendors.
