• REACH, Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, was adopted in December, 2006. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. REACH entered into force on June 1, 2007, with implementation occuring in phases over an eleven year period.

REACH was designed to identify systematically the hazards and risks of chemicals allowing for appropriate risk management measures by industry and, if necessary, provide for further regulatory action by the public authorities.

EU manufacturers and importers are required to register substances they produce or import in quantities over 1 tonne per year. This registration requirement applies to substances on their own, in mixtures and  also in articles if they are expected to be released. Registrations are phased in over an eleven year period between 2008 and 2018, with the final deadline of 31 May 2018 for substances imported or manufactured at quantities between 1 and 100 tonnes per year.

The European Chemicals Agency, ECHA, is responsible for overseeing and managing REACH. The ECHA website contains information for everyone impacted by REACH, including detailed information for registrants as well as high level overviews for downstream users of chemical products.  The ECHA homepage can be found at:   http://www.echa.europa.eu/.

Kodak is committed to meeting its legal obligations under REACH, whether as a manufacturer, importer or downstream user, and since the inception of REACH has worked closely with its suppliers and customers to ensure continued compliance up and down the supply chain.
