Formulation Science
Kodak has the resources and lab facilities to improve your coating solutions and their behavior. Our experience enables us to create stable solutions that make uniform coatings for a variety of applications. One important subset of solution stability is surfactant formulation used to achieve physical uniformity of coated layers. We can provide critical measurement technology for evaluating the stability of coating solutions and for ensuring the uniformity and product performance of the resulting coatings.
Coating Engineering
Kodak is offering our world-class engineering team, extensive modeling capabilities, and pilot facilities to help you with your coating needs. We can help you select the optimum coating method for your materials. Available techniques include Slot Die, Slide Hopper Coating - Bead and Curtain, Gravure, and Rod/Blade. Kodak knowledge of Coating Station, Hopper, and Edging technology results in low liquid waste, well-managed start/finish quality, and world-class coverage uniformity. Kodak knowledge of Solution Delivery Systems technology results in low liquid waste, reduced pulsations, and improved filtration, mixing, and de-aeration.
Drying Engineering
Kodak is offering its' unique modeling approach to optimize the drying profile of your coated product so that you can achieve maximum coating speed without drying-related defects. Model capability provides a tool with which engineers can use to characterize dryers for new product development, defect investigation, product speed-ups, and energy efficiency.
Electrostatics Engineering
Kodak is offering a full range of services from floor testing to the measurement of product characteristics such as such as resistivity, tribo-charging behavior of webs and rollers, charge control of moving webs, and polar and net charge measurement and generation. We can measure charge behavior on moving web, including unwinding electrification, and buried-layer resistivity. We specialize in innovative solutions for difficult charge control problems.
Test Development Engineering
Kodak has the engineering and fabrication capabilities required to custom design test fixtures that can evaluate how your coated product performs in its expected application. If there is no existing test that adequately quantifies the performance of your product, then leverage our resources to devise and implement a test tailored to your specific need.
Converting
Kodak can provide the converting services you need to support your experiments. Our wide roll slitter will convert master rolls of your substrate (up to 48") into the widths and lengths required for use on our pilot coating machines. Our rotary knife slitter will convert the material coated on our pilot coating machines into the final width and length you require to have your product properly evaluated. This equipment can be configured to create slits as narrow as 12 mm, and the final format can be in either wound spools or chopped sheets.
Health, Safety & Environment
Kodak's team of experienced environmental, health and safety (EH&S) professionals is also available to our customers and business partners. We can help you meet your EHS needs with cost-effective service and solutions throughout a product's life cycle. For example, during early research and development, we can conduct chemical characterizations and assessments. Our world-wide regulatory experience can help you navigate applicable requirements to enable access to global markets (e.g., chemical notification, European Union REACH, GHS, and chemical restrictions). As you transition through commercialization and manufacturing, we can develop complete EHS programs as well as provide support on specific issues such as waste management and product recycling.
