New KODAK ACCUMAX ARD7 Film Demonstrates Improved Imaging and Durability

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 22, 2006 -- Eastman Kodak Company announced an innovative photoplotter film that demonstrates improved durability for use in electronics manufacturing including personal computers and mobile phones.

The new film, KODAK ACCUMAX Photoplotter Film ARD7 1903, builds upon technology used in Kodak’s current ARD7 product. Designed for use on red laser photoplotters, ARD7 will be used by manufacturers to produce smaller and more complex printed circuit boards. Because of the improved fine-line image consistency and significantly improved durability of the film, engineers can design smaller circuit patterns onto the film, and then use that template to create circuit patterns onto the boards. This allows manufacturers to deliver smaller devices with more functionality.

"Kodak designs unique films and cleanroom packaging specifically for the printed circuit board market,'' said William Quinn, General Manager of Aerial and Industrial Markets for Kodak's Film Products Group. "The introduction of the ARD7 1903 premium film shows our continued commitment to the growing market for printed circuit boards, and reflects our ability to integrate image science with information technology to create new and better ways for our customers to use images."

Kodak’s new ARD7 integrates the best of Kodak’s PCB technologies into one powerful product ideal for use with high-end red laser photoplotters. The new product builds on Kodak’s exclusive one-sided gel coating structure, which provides the lowest humidity coefficient (HEC) of any PCB film to deliver reduced variability in image positioning caused by humidity changes. The improved fine-line image consistency combined with the latest in Kodak pioneered Integrated-Booster-Technology processing delivers outstanding images. These two features integrated with a substantial improvement in film durability provide longer phototool life, easier photoplotter calibration and sharper images than the prior product, enabling engineers to build smaller circuit patterns required for sophisticated devices.

The new version of ACCUMAX film, which will replace the ARD7 5903 on a stock turnover basis, will be on display March 22-24 at the China Printed Circuit Association's (CPCA) annual trade show in Shanghai, China.
