Cineric Launches Digital-To-Film Conversion Services:

Special Introductory Offer for Independent Filmmakers and Students

Cineric, Inc., is offering digital-to-film conversion services for filmmakers requiring high-quality prints for festivals, trade shows and other purposes. The facility has installed a Lasergraphics Producer Digital Cine Film Recorder that converts digital images to film at the economical speed of four seconds per frame. As part of an introductory special, the facility is offering free testing and discount rates up to 25 percent to qualified filmmakers and students through the end of this year.

"We designed this new process with the independent filmmaker in mind," says Cineric President Balazs Nyari. "It provides high-quality digital-to-film conversions at a competitive price. When the video images are converted, the frame rate is adjusted from 30 to 24 frames per second, scan lines are eliminated, and image processing techniques can be applied to eliminate artifacts. We also recommend archiving digital content on film. Digital media has a comparatively limited useful life span in the realm of about 10 years. Film, if archived correctly, will maintain high quality images for more than a century."

Since its installation, the recorder has been used for special titles and sequences on Maid in Manhattan, Changing Lanes and Two Weeks Notice. Additionally, Cineric has provided conversion services for the critically-acclaimed independent production Bomb the System, and the Brazilian documentary Militancy, directed by Carlos Adriano.

.

"For Bomb the System, the producer and director needed some unique color manipulation for certain scenes - colors that could only be created on a computer," notes Chip Wilkinson, director of marketing for Cineric. "Once created, we were able to turn these sequences back into film for intercutting with the original 35 mm elements. Militancy was a video production that needed to be converted to film. The Lasergraphics Producer provided the most ideal color control for all of these uses and we were able to satisfy our clients."

Lasergraphics, Inc., is headquartered in Irvine, California. The company designs, manufactures, sells, and supports a complete line of 2K, 4K, 8K, and 16K film recorders and high-resolution display products. The company has sold more than 25,000 film recorders worldwide since it was founded in 1981.

In addition to providing digital-to-film recording, Cineric is offering such image manipulation services as up-rezzing and color tweaking for customers.

Cineric, Inc. was founded in New York in1983. The company provides optical printing and digital imaging, titles, special effects and restoration and preservation services.
