The Olympic men's downhill course is shorter than other men's downhill courses. In less than a quarter of a mile a racer will accelerate to more than 70 miles per hour. In about 1 minute and 40 seconds racers covered the steep 1.87 mile (3.02 km) course, sometimes reaching speeds of 80-85 mph. ©Photograph by John McDermott using Kodak E100VS Film. |
