Custom Color ICC gives you the ability to edit:
- An ICC output profile in the output device color space (RGB or CMYK)
- The input transform of the output profile, for situations where it
is necessary to render from one device space to another, such as simulating
a proofing system on a desktop printer or on the monitor display
- Both sides of an ICC device link profile (input side or output side):
RGB-RGB, RGB-CMYK, CMYK-RGB, CMYK-CMYK
- Any of the four rendering intents for ICC profiles: Photographic,
Relative Colorimetric, Absolute Colorimetric, or Saturation
The custom ICC profiles can be used in most desktop publishing applications,
OPI Servers, and Postscript RIPs. With Custom Color ICC, you get the color
you expect.
No Instruments Needed
Custom Color ICC helps you achieve high-quality color results without
instruments. Custom Color ICC includes an extensive collection of ICC
profiles for a variety of professional output devices that can be tuned
for your specific process to create a unique ICC profile. So you get the
best of all possibilities: No investment in instruments, the benefits
of CMS production, and editing with familiar PHOTOSHOP tools.
Tuning Speed and Flexibility
Custom Color ICC is also used as a complementary tool to ICC output profile
building, such as KODAK
COLORFLOW ICC Newsfile Tools, to fine-tune a measurement-based profile
for local viewing conditions or shop preferences, or to impart a particular
"look" for a specific customer.
How it Works
Editing the color accuracy of an ICC profile is as easy as color-editing
an image in PHOTOSHOP. The image edits are converted to a profile through
Kodak's patented Tracer technology. The Tracer pixels represent the entire
CMYK or RGB color space. As global edits are made to the image, the edits
are accumulated in the Tracer; when you are satisfied, the edits are applied
to the profile.
PHOTOSHOP Makes the Difference
Custom Color ICC can use all the PHOTOSHOP Image Adjust tools: Levels,
Curves, Color Balance, Selective Color, Replace Color, and so on, to define
global color corrections. Other more specialized features include:
Color Range Selection ToolYou can define a particular
color region for use with any global color correction tool.
Adjustment LayersYou can build edit lists so
you can easily modify individual menu adjustments if you don't achieve
the color you want during a profile editing session.
Color-in-Color Editing
The unique power of Custom Color ICC is that you can also isolate and
adjust specific color areas such as flesh tones, neutrals, reds, and browns
just as you might when editing a production image for output. Using PHOTOSHOP
Selective Color and Replace Color tools, color regions can be modified
without affecting the neutral gray balance, or even adjoining color regions.
A color region mask from the Color Range tool, or Replace Color's built-in
color mask, offers a feathering effect that is also captured resulting
in smooth transitions between edited and unedited color regions.
