Vacuum Corrugated Feed

The VCF paper feed technology utilizes both forced air and vacuum to separate and feed paper reliably. An air knife uses forced air to blow on the paper stack to separate and "fluff" the top few sheets, providing an air "cushion" or bearing on which each sheet can ride. This air cushion allows the top sheets to move independent of each other significantly reducing misfeeds and multifeeds of other technologies.

A vacuum is then applied to the top sheet of paper adhering it to a specially designed metal plate. This metal plate corrugates or bends the sheet slightly to insure the final separation of the 1st and 2nd sheets and to provide additional stiffness to the sheet, important for feeding light weight stocks. The sheet is then moved into marking engine paper path via actuated belts and moving rollers. Using vacuum in this process eliminates the need for consumable feed belts whose performance declines steadily with life and is extremely sensitive to the smoothness of the paper. It also eliminates frictional abrasion on the sheet or printed image.
