Jeff Burr's vision leads Straight into Darkness

Jeff Burr and Mark Hannah grew up together in the same hometown in Georgia where, as small boys, they ran around with their Super 8 movie cameras making action pictures, horror movies and James Bond take-offs. Today their friendship remains constant and their enthusiasm for filmmaking continues unabated, albeit on a professional level. Burr's first feature film as Director, released in the US as The Offspring and in Europe as From a Whisper to a Scream and starring Vincent Price, involved Hannah as Associate Producer and 1st Assistant Director. Now Straight into Darkness has brought the two together once more, with Burr as Writer and Director and Hannah as Producer.

Straight into Darkness is a character-led story that is set in the last winter of the Second World War, just after the Battle of the Bulge. It focuses on two American soldiers (played by Scott MacDonald and Ryan Jenner Francis) and their enigmatic, psychological and religious journey between the lines. "It's one of those stories where there are a lot of twists and turns and you don't know where it's going or what's happening next. The combat situation enhances and propels the psychological make-up of the soldiers' characters and forces them on," explains Hannah. David Warner, Linda Thorsen (The Avengers), James LeGros and Dan Roebuck are amongst the international cast, with Romanian actors playing several key roles. Read More
