Nigel Walters, BSC, new president of Imago |
Imago, the Federation of
European Cinematographers has
appointed Nigel Walters, BSC as
its new president. Nigel, currently
vice-president of the BSC, was
unanimously voted by delegates
representing 1400 cinematographers
from 27 European nations at
Imago's AGM in Amsterdam, the
Netherlands in February.
Imago was set up in 1992 by the
cinematographic societies of Italy,
France, Germany and the UK and
exists to promote the activities of
cinematographers and their craft.
In his acceptance speech, Nigel
reminded the audience that this
has been an amazing year for
European cinematographers with
four of the five Oscar nominations
being Imago members. He added
that the cultural diversity of Europe
is also its strength and noted that
BAFTA members voted for La Vie
en Rose, Das Leben des Anderes,
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
as well as Atonement. Nigel set
out the priorities for his presidency
as the implementation of the
model contract for authorship
rights and the improvement of
working conditions. We wish him
