Director Ian Kessner and cinematographer Christopher Lockett teamed up to make a public service announcement promoting safe sex. Lockett and Kessner decided to use the main character's point-of-view to make a memorable impact and surprise viewers.

The spot opens with a white French bulldog moving in and out of the sunlight and shadows while walking on a concrete sidewalk in West Hollywood. The dog disappears into a pharmacy. A heartbeat later he exits with a box of condoms in his mouth. The tagline says, "If pets could practice safe sex, they would. Spay and neuter your pets."

The PSA is a national campaign created by AD2LA, a division of the Advertising Club of Los Angeles for Best Friends Animal Shelter. The spot's star is Linus, the dog featured in the Steve Martin comedy Bringing Down The House.

Kessner and Lockett met on the first day of graduate school at the American Film Institute. They worked on their first project there together and have continued to collaborate since graduating last year. Read More
