Three U.S. Hospitals Purchase Advanced Digital Medical Image Capture Systems from Kodak

Innovative Products from Kodak’s Health Imaging Group Feature Outstanding Image Quality, Ease of Use to Help Improve Patient Care

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 10 -- Three hospitals in the Central United States recently ordered Eastman Kodak Company’s powerful, state-of-the-art digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) systems to provide immediate digital image capture and rapid access to imaging studies. Kodak reports brisk orders for its innovative digital image capture systems in all regions of the United States.

Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis, Tenn., purchased a KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 9000 System for its emergency room to serve Level 1 trauma patients. Baptist Memorial Hospital is the 706-bed flagship hospital of the Baptist Memorial Health Care System. The new KODAK DR 9000 System is expected to improve both patient throughput and patient care by providing immediate digital image capture for all types of patient trauma exams.

Baptist Memorial Health Care System also purchased and installed 20 KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 800/850 and 900/950 Systems to provide digital image capture of general radiography exams in hospital radiology departments and in remote locations, including the ICU and outpatient imaging centers.

In Cape Girardeau, Mo., Saint Francis Medical Center purchased a KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 5100 System to perform upright and chest exams at this 249-bed regional medical center that performs 90,000 imaging studies annually. In addition, four KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR systems currently provide digital image capture for nearly all other general radiology exams including portables. The staff reported that radiologic technologists became proficient with the DR 5100 system very quickly because Kodak’s CR and DR platforms feature a consistent easy-to-use operator interface.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo., purchased a new KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 5100 System for the dedicated chest room of the hospital’s radiology department. A 489-bed acute-care hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center performs 174,000 imaging exams annually. The DR system augments two KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 950 Systems and three CR 850 Systems that currently serve the main department.

“These three facilities illustrate the widespread demand for KODAK digital image capture systems in facilities of all sizes,” said Kevin Hobert, General Manager of Digital Capture Systems and Vice President, Kodak’s Health Imaging Group. “Our broad portfolio of CR and DR products provides a single platform for our customers’ varied digital capture needs and offers the productivity, image quality and ease of use that healthcare providers require to provide premium quality care.”

The KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 9000 System supports a full range of general radiography and trauma exams. Its U-arm design provides exceptional positioning flexibility.

The KODAK DIRECTVIEW 5100 System brings the advantages of digital radiography to high-volume chest and other upright exams. It permits imaging of both ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients.

The KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 950 System provides maximum workflow for multi-cassette CR processing in large, centralized environments. The system manages 16 cassettes simultaneously to support operator-friendly “drop and go” workflow for high productivity areas with multiple exam rooms.

The KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 850 System is the fastest 14 x 17-inch cassette reader available, with throughput of up to 91 14 x 17-inch cassettes per hour. The CR 850 also features a streamlined footprint for easy placement in healthcare facilities.
