Align Technology Offers Kodak Software, Digital Cameras to Enhance Invisalign® Prescription Process

ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 27 -- Align Technology, Inc., maker of the Invisalign system of clear removable Aligners for straightening teeth, has teamed with Eastman Kodak Company to enhance dental professionals' ability to document and communicate patient information.

Align Technology now offers the Kodak Dental Photographic Template (DPT), developed in conjunction with Kodak's Dental Systems business, to doctors who complete Invisalign certification. Doctors use the DPT software to photo-document the teeth of patients entering Invisalign treatment. Align Technology's lab technicians use these photographs and other dental records to create each series of unique, custom-made Aligners during the Invisalign manufacturing process.

Align Technology will also offer the Kodak EasyShare DX4900 Zoom Digital Camera Kit and photographic quality Kodak DMI Inkjet Paper at Invisalign certification seminars. The kit includes a Kodak DX4900 camera, customized with built-in distance and framing guides to help ensure consistent, professionally-framed dental images, and a Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock II for transferring images to a computer or network.

"Our relationship with Kodak underscores the growing role of digital imaging in dentistry," said Dr. Lou Shuman, vice president of clinical education at Align Technology. "Both Align and Kodak are committed to providing dental professionals with the most advanced and effective products for their practices."

"Digital photography makes communication between doctors and labs as efficient as it is effective," said William Altvater, manager, digital sales, Kodak's Dental Systems business. "Kodak is pleased that we are able to simplify the photographic capture of patient images and workflow using our imaging science expertise to help Align Technology enhance its services."
