Kodak Introduces High Definition Film To Provide
Clear, More Vibrant Pictures
Kodak Unveils "4Cs Guide" of Photography to Teach
Consumers How to Take Great Pictures
ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 13 --
Eastman Kodak Company, responding to consumer preference for
high-quality, high-speed film products, recently introduced
Kodak High Definition film to help consumers take pictures with
maximum clarity and rich detail. According to a recent consumer
survey, 75 percent of respondents identified clarity as one of
the two most important characteristics of a great picture.
In an effort to help consumers take better pictures,
Kodak has also developed the "Definition of a Great Picture"
Guide - fashioned after the popular "4Cs of a diamond" concept
to provide insights and anecdotes on the four key
characteristics defining picture quality.
According to the Guide, the 4Cs of photography
include:
- Clarity Clarity
refers to the level of detail or sharpness of a picture. After
all, the clearer the shot, the better the memory.
- Color Vivid
colors help reflect a moment the way a person remembers it. A
vibrant picture can be the result of many factors ranging from
type of film to the contrast between subject and background.
- Composition A
picture can be composed so that its elements work together to
create a work of beauty. Each item in a picture has an effect on
the entire image, which is why most photographers suggest taking
time to carefully compose each picture rather than just pointing
and shooting.
- Content Consider
expanding the type of objects used in a picture to include
unplanned moments. Also, remember to always keep a camera handy,
as everyday shots are often the most memorable.
In the "4Cs Guide," professional photographer Rick
Sammon provides advice and illustrative photographs to explain
each characteristic. The guide, which will feature contributions
from various photographers throughout the year, is available
free-of-charge at
http://www.kodak.com/go/filmguide.
"For most of us, capturing the perfect picture is a
never-ending pursuit," said Sammon. "The value of a clear,
vibrant picture can be immeasurable when it conveys a cherished
moment, person or place. You don't have to be a
professional photographer to learn what it takes to get a great
picture and capture life's special moments through
photography."
Kodak High Definition
film is helpful to consumers interested in getting high-quality
pictures because the film significantly reduces the grain in a
picture to produce superior image clarity in its speed class.
"The term 'high definition' denotes
sharpness and detail across many categories, and that's
exactly what Kodak High Definition
film delivers," said Alex Hodges, Marketing Director, U.S.
Consumer Imaging, Eastman Kodak Company.
Kodak High Definition
film is the latest example of the company's ongoing
efforts to expand the benefits of film and educate consumers on
the various product choices availableultimately resulting
in better pictures for better sharing. Kodak has also taken
steps to simplify the film category for consumers by helping
them understand which film meets their photographic needs
through the use of film packaging icons that illustrate specific
product benefits. Kodak High Definition film is the only
Kodak
film that carries the
diamond icon for clarity, and the film's new packaging
communicates the film as the consumer choice for clearest
pictures.
Ideal for everyday and special occasion use, Kodak High
Definition film features advanced
color-management technology that sharpens details, safeguards
image color integrity and provides vibrant color accuracy. When
taking pictures of people, this technology offers accurate
skin-tone reproduction and improved true-to-life colors. The
film's advanced imaging quality makes it ideal for
conversion to digital images for use on computers or for
e-mailing.
Kodak High Definition
film is available through retailers nationwide in a 200- and
400-speed 35 mm film, as well as an Advanced Photo System (APS)
format for individuals who prefer the benefits that APS film
provides.
