Kodak Expands Its High Definition Film Portfolio With APS Film

Kodak's Best APS Film Offers Consumers Pictures With Improved Clarity and Outstanding Detail

LAS VEGAS, March 2 -- Eastman Kodak Company today introduced a High Definition Advanced Photo System (APS) film, thus expanding its High Definition film portfolio. The Kodak Advantix High Definition 200-speed APS film which joins the recently introduced Kodak High Definition 400-speed 35mm film delivers clear pictures and sharp detail.

Kodak launched the High Definition film portfolio in response to growing consumer preference for high-quality films. The introduction of High Definition films represents the latest example of Kodak's ongoing efforts to simplify the film category and educate consumers on the benefits of premium film products. The new packaging and positioning of High Definition effectively communicate the film as the best consumer choice for image clarity.

"The introduction of Advantix High Definition film delivers on one of our key growth strategies to expand the benefits of film for consumers," said Glenn Patcha, Vice President and General Manager, Capture, Consumer Imaging, Kodak. "This expansion of our High Definition film brand offers consumers additional choices for clear, more detailed pictures and underscores Kodak's commitment to the APS category."

Kodak Advantix High Definition film leverages the same Kodak Advantix film enhancements previously announced last year and mirror those of its 35mm counterpart. The recent enhancements include improved sharpness and reduced grain, optimized accurate skin tone reproduction over a wide range of flesh tones, improved color consistency over a wide range of exposures and dramatically improved blues and purples. It will carry Kodak's diamond icon for clarity on its packaging to communicate the film as the consumer's choice for clear, fine-grain pictures.

Kodak Advantix High Definition film, which will be priced the same as Kodak Advantix 200-speed, will be available widely at major retailers and photo specialty stores beginning in the U.S. in August. It will replace 200-speed Kodak Advantix film on retail shelves.

The film complements Kodak's existing portfolio of APS film products including Kodak's APS 400-speed film, which will continue to be available to consumers who prefer more versatility in picture-taking conditions. Demonstrating the company's continued commitment to the APS category, Kodak also announced a new family of APS cameras and availability of Kodak Perfect Touch Processing for APS. The product and service offerings are aimed at increasing the satisfaction among loyal APS users (see separate release).
