- Open your picture in any image or graphic editing program, such as Adobe
PhotoDeluxe, MGI PhotoSuite II, or Microsoft PictureIt. KODAK Picture CD and
Picture Disk also include software for making wallpaper.
- Adjust the image size of your picture. If you want your picture to fill the screen, save it
at the same pixel setting as your monitor's resolution. For example, if your
screen is set to display at 800x600 pixels, resize your image to 800x600
pixels. You also can specify any size smaller than your monitor resolution.
The important thing is to not make your picture larger than what your
monitor can display.
- Save your picture. Save your wallpaper picture as a bitmap
(BMP) file if you are a Windows user (GIF or JPEG files
also can work, but for these Windows users must use the "active desktop."). Save your wallpaper as a JPEG or GIF if you are a Mac user. Select a lower resolution, such as 72 dpi. Windows users should save this picture in the c:\Windows folder. Mac users
simply need to save it as a new file.
...Once your picture is ready, all that remains is to make it your
wallpaper.
- Windows users: Go to your desktop and right click. Select "properties" and
choose the "background" tab. Look in the "Select an HTML document or a
picture" menu. Scroll the image list until you find your picture. Highlight
it and select "apply."
- Mac users: In your "Apple" menu, go to "control panels" and select
"desktop picture." Click the "picture" button at the left, then click
"select picture." Browse your computer to find and select your picture file.
Then click "set desktop" to finish.
If your picture is smaller than your screen, you can choose to center it
against a neutral background, tile it (display enough copies of your picture
to fill the screen), or stretch it to fill the screen.
