Layout and Visual Effects

Don't be afraid to play with the layout and visual effects. Use the "Save As" function to experiment with different versions of your collage until you're satisfied.

When the collage is done, don't forget to add a date to it. That's an important part of the story, too. Save the finished image at a much lower resolution than you would use for printing, in order to make the file as small as possible for emailing.

Tom's Process:
I then take inventory of the pictures I have selected. For example, I have 12 pictures, 4 of which are portrait, 8 landscape. Are there a couple that I really want to highlight by making bigger?

Then, I start adding photos to the main file keeping individual photos on their own "layer".

Tom looks at his inventory and decides which pictures best fit together to tell a story.
