Weather

The climate in Hong Kong can be a challenge for photographic equipment. There are two factors to consider. One is the humidity, and the other is the difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures, especially during the summer when air conditioners run full blast 24 hours a day.

If you can avoid keeping your camera equipment in a fully air-conditioned room, it will help decrease the lens fogging that will occur when you take the equipment out into the warm humid air. If you can't avoid keeping the equipment in a cold hotel room overnight, be prepared to let the equipment acclimate to the outdoor weather before you try to start shooting.

To protect electronic parts from the humidity, it's a good idea to put your camera in a sealed plastic bag before you leave the air-conditioned climate and keep it in the bag for about 30 minutes once you are outdoors. This will give the camera body time to adjust to the temperature, and prevent humidity from condensing on it in the process.
