Wong Tai Sin District's Chi Lin Nunnery was built to replicate the grand style of the wooden buildings during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). Today, it is the biggest all-timber structure in the world; the buildings are made entirely of wood, without a single nail or metal support.

Entering Chi Lin is a serene and inspiring experience; the grand symmetry of the architecture provides a sense of balance that is very calming. This Buddhist nunnery gives one a living understanding of the peace and harmony of which the Zen masters speak.
