A violin student practices "Butterfly Dream," a popular Chinese equivalent of the story of Romeo and Juliet, while sports enthusiasts play football or American soccer. It's a gathering of friends and family--a community--so important in a city known for its mercantile hustle and bustle. Looking out over Tolo Harbour in the New Territories (the northern part of the city, adjacent to mainland China) is Tai Po Waterfront Park. Miles of bike paths connect the park to neighboring Sha Tin, where bicycles can be rented for the day.
