The art coming out of China right now is very vital, and in the last few years, the West has begun to take notice. Tson-zung Chang is one of the people responsible for introducing contemporary Chinese art to the world stage. A volunteer for the Hong Kong Tourism Board's "Meet the People" program, he can speak eloquently about mainland Chinese art, contemporary art movements in Hong Kong, and the differences between the two.

His gallery (Hanart TZ Gallery) on Queen's Road in the Central and Western District is home to an ever-changing exhibition of contemporary painting, sculpture, and installation art. An hour with Mr. Chang is like a multimedia course in contemporary Chinese art as he speaks from
memory, pulls out catalogues from
international shows, and points to
paintings to weave a lesson in 21st
century expression.
